Honestly, I was pretty impressed after eating this burger. It's located in a plaza with a good amount of parking. Easy to order in the restaurant. After reading all the recent reviews, I tried the Macho crispy spicy chicken sandwich ($10) + chicken tenders ($9) + curly fries ($4.50). Macho crispy chicken sandwich - omg it was so hot inside and freshly fried. It had that amazing crunch, and really tasty. It's like eating Taiwanese popcorn chicken but in a sandwich !
Decent spot in Arcadia for a non-commercial chicken sandwich. I really liked their popcorn chicken which has cumin and gives it a very lamb skewer esque feel. Their curly fries did not disappoint as they came out hot and curly as promised. Would definitely come back!
The original crispy chicken sandwich at Macho Burger was DELICIOUS. It was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. The texture was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Each bite was a flavor bomb with the perfect balance of umami and black pepper. The service was amazing. The food came out quickly, and they even cut and served the chicken sandwich in half for me after I requested a knife. The interior is clean and new. I enjoyed the Cantonese pop songs playing in the background. The branding and logo are spot on, featuring a hilarious image of a chicken with buff arms (hence the name "Macho"). The theme extends to everything, from the tray liners to the cups. I'll definitely be coming back!
LOVE Macho Burger. I tried the one in San Gabriel and realised this one opened up recently when I saw it on Google Maps. Service was swift and the store was clean. Get the burger with the fries. It's so good and not oily somehow. And the fries are seasoned with saly and pepper.
I've been thinking a lot about this new food trend I read about lately, the Chinese-style fried chicken burgers popping up in the SGV. Apparently, they're inspired by localized menu items from KFC and McDonald's over in China. Isn't that just wild? The ironic thing is, you can't even find these best sellers on the menus back here in the US. A rational person might wonder, "how could this business model be profitable?" After all, in America, KFC and McDonald's are seen as cheap fast food for lower-income customers. But you know, that's just not the case in Asia. Over there, those brands don't have that same negative stereotype attached to them. It's more about introducing exciting new menu items, rather than just focusing on affordability. And man, has it paid off for them! Just look at how popular WcDonald's is in Japanese culture, or the fact that KFC Christmas dinner is a tradition in Japan. And in China? KFC has more locations there than they do in the US! They've totally dominated as the most successful American fast food brand, all because they adapted their menu to local tastes with items like rice dishes, congee, youtiao, even egg tarts. Back to these chicken burgers... the best way to describe the Macho Crispy Chicken Sandwich is a premium version of Burger King's Original Chicken Sandwich. I mean it in a good way because I used to love that sandwich as a kid. The classic flavor profile of lettuce, and mayonnaise is elevated with Macho's crispy fried chicken filet which is more tender and juicy compared to premium hot chicken sandwiches from Dave's or Main Chick. Another popular item is the XXL Macho Fried Chicken Chop. It reminds me of the large chicken cutlets found in Taiwanese night markets. It looks cool because it is the size of my head but it tastes like a flattened version of the standard popcorn chicken. I'm grateful that Macho Burger brought back a core memory from my American childhood, taste buds got reawakened when I took a bite of that crispy chicken sandwich bursting with creamy mayo flavor. It's wild to think countless others have cravings for the same chicken sandwich from their childhoods, but in China. It's incredible how food can bridge cultures and evoke emotions. It reminds me that we are all connected in surprising and beautiful ways, even through the simple act of savoring a chicken burger.
I ordered the green chili cheeseburger, and my boyfriend ordered the macho spicy chicken burger, with fries and drink. My green chili cheeseburger was just ok, the hamburger meat itself was kinda bland and boring, I had to use like 4 packets of ketchup in my burger for it to have flavor. The green chili and toppings in my burger wasn't bad though, probably can use some tomatoes, and onions or seasoning on the patty. The macho spicy chicken burger though was fantastic, the next time I come here I think we are going to def try the combo for 2 which has all chicken. This place definitly does good chicken. It was prettt empty when we came in, so we got our order taken immediately and I think the food came out within under 10 minutes.
This is not just another burger place- it's really an Asian inspired fried chicken burger shop! Their sister shop is chicken bun bun. A friend invited us out to his newest, favorite fried chicken store- Macho Burger. A little deceiving in the name, right? But it's where men come to eat after a long day of jiujitsu. Okay, not all- but the group I went with did. We order several items- but my favorites were the chicken chop, fried chicken drumstick, and fried chicken sandwich. The fish sandwich and popcorn chicken would be second. The least favorite for me was the beef sandwich, but only because it was too greasy for me. While it's Asian owned, the fried chicken is closer to KFC than Taiwanese, maybe a fusion of 70/30? But overall, still good! Everything is made to order- so expect a little bit of a wait! If you can enjoy it in doors, it's so fresh and worth it! Parking is easy at night on a weekday, maybe a little more challenging if you come when the supermarket is open.
I found myself going back a handful of times now and it's only been 7 days since my original review, so it's only fair I upgrade to 5 stars. This Macho Burger is located right next to Sinbala. Items are always made fresh and thoughtfully packed. Cutlet and Popcorn Chicken have a more subtle seasoning. They are both heavy on the breading. Popcorn Chicken is more similar to KFC popcorn chicken than Taiwanese style popcorn chicken. The regular fries are really good. Always fresh and well seasoned. I used to miss curly fries from the Arby's in Alhambra, but the curly fries here are just as good if not better--very crisp and clean, not the typical burnt/dry/sour taste you get from Jack in the Box, for example. Also an honorable mention to the Spicy Wings. They are better than the Spicy Original wings from Korean bb.q Chicken. Six pieces for $10.99 looks expensive, but if you do the math, it's $29.30 for 16 pieces, which is less than the $35.99 at Korean bb.q Chicken. All six pieces I received were flats, however, let's see if I get any drums next time. The portion size is good. The food has been very consistent for all of my orders, which is the most important part of operating a restaurant in my opinion. I don't like to gamble and with many restaurants it's "spin the wheel" in terms of taste profile, portion size, and/or texture.
